Original Brochures from UDVC
We were given both of these brochures about Victim's Rights. These were done by previous volunteers and they are brochures that the UDVC decided not to use because they felt they weren't visually appealing. Both brochures are very similar, with some sections being the exact same. The main difference is the city the brochures have the top brochure was Emery County and the bottom brochure was Carbon County. After speaking with Jennifer, we decided to revise the Emery County brochure and the UDVC would do the Carbon County with our template.
First Draft - before peer review
This was the first Victim's Rights Brochure edited. My overall goal was to make it look more visually appealing. This included taking out words (many were repeated), adding color, bolding each section, and making quotes stand out.
Second Draft- after peer review
After class peer revision I noted that there were a few things I needed to change. First being my wording, I repeated myself a few times and my sentences weren't as clear as they should've been. Next I changed the layout and overall look of the brochure. I changed the front cover, the color of the headers, and moved "Protective Orders" up. Other edits are highlighted throughout the brochure.
Final Draft- final copy given to UDVC
Summary of Brochure
As stated above, my main goal with this brochure was to make it user friendly and visually appealing. I found as I was working on the project that rather than adding words, I was often taking out words. In total, I added 180 words and removed 531 words.
